Greetings to all of our WHMI family!

We want to share some of what is going on here in central Kenya.

Here you will see our Administrator, Ann Ikaba, and Gilbert at the airport.  They are on their way to the US, where Gilbert has received a scholarship to study!  Praise God with us as we celebrate His blessings!

Exciting things are happening with our students. In the following pictures, you'll see World Hope Junior Academy. It is a growing educaitonal facility offering much needed education to the African child. There are over 150 children at the school. And then, continuing with our Mentorship Program with our high school students, we just experienced an exciting mentorship day with the students, sharing our dreams, goals, achievements, fears and failures. As they are the future of our community, we shared our day-to-day challenges, and encouraged each other to be better in all we do.  Our administrator was a part of this day and played a big role in helping us to dream big!

We continue to thank God for our founders and supporters in this awesome ministry of changing and impacting lives.

Who – Bishop Joel Chege, pastor for over 40 years in central Kenya. He has also traveled to several countries around the world to preach the Gospel.

Where – Nyahururu, Kenya

What– This ministry is actively seeking to spread the good news of Jesus Christ throughout all of Kenya, its surrounding countries, the continent of Africa and to the ends of the earth. This is being done through continuous public evangelization, meeting needs in the surrounding communities, a children’s home and school, planting new churches among new believers, and providing free, systematic theological training to local pastors and leaders.

How – Under the direction of Bishop Joel, they continue to plan monthly events, camps, missions, service projects, and more to expand the glorious reach and transformation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ! Many of our WHMI teams come alongside this vision to share the Gospel in a VBS format to the hundreds of children that surround Nyahururu and have never heard or experienced the truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Additionally, evangelism, sport clinics, crusades, youth conferences, and greenhousemore are welcome to continue to impact the area for Christ.

Why– Jesus said, “I AM the way, the truth and the life, and no one can go to the Father in heaven except through Me.”  Without believing in and living for Jesus, the wrath of God will keep the lost from experiencing heaven and eternal salvation.  Jesus said, “Go and make disciples…,” so Bishop Joel has been called to go and give guidance to God’s work in Nyahururu and to the ends of the earth.

What’s already been done?  In Nyahururu, God called Bishop Chege and Mama Rose to begin pastoring a church and meeting basic needs in the community. Because of their love and passion for children, God led them to open a children’s home inside their church complex. They are currently housing several dozen orphan children, and they have built a school that educates more than 100 grade school, junior high and high school students from all over the Nyahururu area. Many of these students have graduated from school, completed their university studies and are coming back to serve and give back to Bishop Joel and the community that took care of their needs when they were children. Also, with Bishop Joel’s charisma and commitment to correct theology, a Bible Institute was started with approximately 150 pastors and church leaders. This past November 2015, 100 of those students were able to finish all of their 16 Bible Institute classes and were formally graduated to become the indigenous faculty for more Bible Institutes in other locations in Kenya and beyond.
