Greetings friends,

We have been busy with preparation for the Women's Conference and Children's Bible School coming up in May. Our planning committees have been meeting and our Sunday School mentors have been attending training sessions. We have also held prayer meetings for the past three weeks. Much time and resources have been sacrificed towards the endeavor and we trust in God for a mighty breakthrough in these events.

We held a local Vocational Bible Study in April with 346 Sunday school children and 25 mentors in attendance. Many children committed their lives to Christ and we bless the Lord for this harvest. The theme of the VBS was “A Child After God's Own Heart”.

We have opened School for the second and middle term of the year. Many activities including games, sports and educational trips for pupils happen during this time of the year. The educational trips are an essential part of their learning. Please pray that God provides the resources for the children to be able to attend these trips, for their safety and for an excellent learning experience.

The School is still struggling with getting our lease renewed. To meet the standards of the Ministry of Education's requirements for registration, an 8 year lease is required. Our landlord is reluctant to sign an 8 year lease and we fear we may lose our land to a buyer. Please pray for our favor in these negotiations. God has a plan!

We have been experiencing heavy flooding here. Some have lost their cars, homes have been flooded, bridges have caved in and tall buildings have collapsed causing fatalities. Please pray that the rains reduce before more lives and property are lost. It is also likely that we may be faced with epidemics of water born diseases if the situation continues. May God help us.

Additionally we ask for prayer over one of our youth brothers, who is a volunteer in charge of instruments and upkeep in church. He requires surgery and we pray that God will provide financially and heal him quickly. Jehovah Jireh will definitely provide.

We give thanks for your continued prayer and support that we may continue as ambassadors for Christ.

Partner Profile

Who– Bishop James Munene

Where – Nairobi/Kawangware slum

What– Sowing the seed of the gospel through educating the children, equipping the Church, and serving the community in Jesus’ name and under His authority and instruction.

How – Educating the local children and thus impacting the local families with the gospel. Serving the community through the voice of the gospel in church, in crusade evangelism, door to door evangelism, food and clothing distribution, and more.

Why – Jesus said, “I AM the way, the truth and the life, and no one can go to the Father in heaven except through Me.”  Without believing in and living kawangware crusadefor Jesus, the wrath of God will keep the lost from experiencing heaven and eternal salvation.  Jesus said, “Go and make disciples…”, so Bishop Munene has been called to go and give guidance to God’s work among their dear people in Kawangware.

What’s already been done?  Pastor Munene and his wife opened a school in the middle of Kawangware over 10 years ago.  They now educate and feed a hot lunch to over 300 elementary and junior high students.  They also have a church on the property that seeks to fulfill the Great Commission of Christ through teaching/preaching, evangelism, prayer, discipleship and church planting.

Can you come alongside our work in Kawangware?  YES!  Here are 4 ways you can join God in this great work of making disciples in Africa:

  1. Pray! Please join us in praying the following:
    • God will pour out His Spirit to open hearts and minds to the gospel.
    • God will pour out His resources through His worldwide Church to help this ministry thrive daily.
    • God will keep the Munenes and their team spiritually healthy to endure all the obstacles of the enemies with joy, thanksgiving, courage, purity and faithfulness.
  2. Go! We are looking for two teams to join this work in April, August or November 2016. The cost is approximately $3000 / person. This is all-inclusive including airfare from Houston to Nairobi, accommodations, food and water, transport, translators and ministry materials.
  3. Give! The Munenes rely on monthly support from churches, individuals, and various other ministries that God has called to come alongside them to accomplish His vision. Please review the steps to give below, then click here .
    • Be sure to click "Direct my Donation To" and select "Monthly Support by Country."
    • In the dropdown menu that appears, please select "Kawangware, Kenya." Your gift will go towards the support of Pastor Munene and God's ministry through them in Kawangware.
  4. All of the above!
